San Juan Skyway

Beautiful San Juan Skyway is in southwest Colorado. It forms a 236-mile loop that follows US 160, US 550, CO 62, and CO 145. The highways are two-lane paved roads suitable for all types of vehicles. Winter driving conditions can be hazardous and require extra caution. Portions may temporarily close for snow removal.

Santa Fe Trail

Santa Fe Trail is in southeast Colorado. It follows US 350 from Trinidad to La Junta and US 50 east to the Kansas state line. Both highways are two-lane paved roads that are suitable for all types of vehicles. The byway is nearly 190 miles long and usually remains open year-round.

Silver Thread Scenic Byway

The Silver Thread scenic byway is approximately 50 miles northwest of Alamosa in southwest Colorado. Its southern terminus is in South Fork on US 160. The byway follows CO 149 northwest through Creede to Lake City. Colorado Highway 149 is a two-lane paved road that is suitable for all vehicles. Silver Thread Highway is 75 miles long and is generally passable year-round.

Top of the Rockies Scenic Byway

Top of the Rockies is about 75 miles west of Denver in central Colorado. It's 82 miles long and follows US 24 and CO 91. A seven-mile segment to Twin Lakes follows CO 82. All the roads are two-lane paved roads suitable for all types of vehicles. The byway is usually passable year-round but extra caution should be used in winter.

Trail Ridge Road / Beaver Meadow Road

This scenic byway is in north-central Colorado about 30 miles west of Loveland. It begins in Estes Park and heads southwest to Grand Lake through Rocky Mountain National Park. The byway follows US 36 and US 34 for a total of 53 miles. Both US Highways are two-lane paved roads suitable for all types of vehicles. Trail Ridge Road through the national park is usually open Memorial Day to mid-October.
