Meeting of the Great Rivers

Meeting of the Great Rivers is in southwest Illinois about 20 miles north of Saint Louis, Missouri. The byway begins in Alton at the Melvin Price Lock and Dam and travels north to Kampsville. It follows IL 100, Eldred Road, and IL 108 for a total of 50 miles. The byway reaches Kampsville via a ferry across the Illinois River. The roads followed are two-lane paved roads suitable for all vehicles.

Ohio River Scenic Route

Ohio River Scenic Route begins near Fort Defiance State Park in southern Illinois and travels northeast to the Indiana state line. It follows a series of US, state, and county highways that are suitable for all vehicles. The byway is nearly 190 miles long. A portion runs through Shawnee National Forest and is also known as the Shawnee Hills on the Ohio Scenic Byway.

Shawnee Hills on the Ohio Scenic Byway

Shawnee Hills on the Ohio is in southern Illinois. It begins in Mitchellsville and travels south along the banks of the Ohio River to end in New Liberty. The byway follows OH 34, Karbers Ridge Road, OH 1, OH 146, and CR 1. All the roads are two-lane paved roads suitable for all types of vehicles. Shawnee Hills on the Ohio is about 70 miles long and usually remains open year-round.
