Avenue of Pines Scenic Byway

Avenue of Pines is 15 miles northwest of Grand Rapids in north-central Minnesota. The byway begins near Deer River and follows MN 46 northwest to the junction with US 71 in Northome. Minnesota Highway 46 is a two-lane paved road suitable for all vehicles and usually remains open year-round. Avenue of Pines is 46 miles long.

Edge of the Wilderness Scenic Byway

Edge of the Wilderness byway is in north-central Minnesota and begins in Grand Rapids. It follows MN 38, a two-lane paved road suitable for all vehicles, north for nearly 50 miles to Effie. The 22-mile segment traveling through Chippewa National Forest is designated a National Forest Scenic Byway. Edge of the Wilderness usually remains open year-round; delays are possible during winter.

North Shore Drive / Gunflint Trail

North Shore Drive / Gunflint Trail is in northeastern Minnesota about 80 miles northeast of Duluth. The North Shore Drive portion begins in Schroeder and travels northeast to the national forest boundary, east of Red Cliff. The Gunflint Trail section starts in Grand Marais and travels northwest to the road's end near the Canadian border. The scenic drive follows US 61 and Gunflint Trail, which is also known as CR 12. Both roads are two-lane paved roads suitable for all types of vehicles and remain open year-round. North Shore Drive is officially designated a National Forest Scenic Byway.

Scenic Highway

Scenic Highway is in north-central Minnesota about 20 miles east of Bemidji. The byway's northern terminus is near Blackduck on US 71. It travels south across the Chippewa National Forest and Leech Lake Indian Reservation to the junction with US 2. Scenic Highway is 12 miles long and follows Beltrami County Road 39 and Cass County Road 10. Both are two-lane paved roads safe for travel by all types of vehicles. Delays are possible during winter, otherwise the byway remains open all year.
